We know you are busy and we know that times are tough. That is why we decided to create the easiest possible scholarship to give something back to students. What are the odds that you’ll get a #scholarship?

Do you know?

Interesting things to note:

  • Being athletic doesn’t make you any more likely to get a scholarship (odds of getting an athletic scholarship .7 percent (per the article below)).
  • Middle income students land more scholarships than lower or upper income brackets.
  • Minority students are less likely to get scholarships than white students.

There are some additional points in this article in the Washington Post. However, note - students are still encouraged to apply for the scholarships when they meet the qualifications.

''LifeofJaseZ'': So scholarships are like lottery tickets...

Seriously - It does seem like that, but even if you applied to 50 scholarships and got one, you would be out something like $70 in exchange for $1000, $2000, or even more. As long as you don’t develop a scholarship application habit like some people develop lottery ticket habits… you’ll be okay.

Our suggestion is to apply to specific scholarships and not general ones, if you can avoid it.

Good luck!

jazona:

I’ve applied to like… 10-15 of them so far? I fussed with like 2 big ones the past week and… my dad made this weird funny analogy.

Because I’m pretty good at time management - I never had to mail them express, so 1 scholarship package costs like $1.40.

It’s funny cuz it’s literally like buying…

from Johnson & Wales University.

Gosh, they gave me $6000 every year for four years! That’s so cool of them! But, the campus is all the way in Colorado & I don’t even know if my mom will let me go that far. I may be getting money, but it won’t cover everything /:

However, I’m still ever so grateful that I got some money in the first place. Thank you again Johnson & Wales, I appreciate it (: fingers cross I can attend your school!
